56th Virtual Fighter Wing Flag Exercises

The 56th currently sponsers 2 different virtual "Flag" exercises, and 2 Competitions. The Flag exercises include: Red Flag, the worlds pre-eminent large scale air war simulation exercise & Green Flag which focuses on electronic warfare (SEAD, DEAD, ECM), precision guided munitions, CAS, night systems (NVG, TGP) and irregular warfare (counter insurgency, counter guerrilla, urban). The Competitions currently consist of: William Tell, the 56th VFW's take on the U.S. Air Forces primier international Air to Air tactics, gunnery and missile meet & Gunsmoke, an air to ground meet with emphasis placed heavily on acurracy in "dumb" bombing, unguided rocket delivery, and strafing with the gun. A third Competition known as Sentry Viper is in the works and may be added sometime in 2008.
